Power walker on track to break Guinness World Record

“You are never too young to start something new. Challenge yourself, set goals, and dream big! My forties were fabulous and my fifties are amazing,” says power walker Yolanda Holder. Holder is trying to break the Guinness World Record for the Most Marathons Run in a Calendar Year.

You Go Girl Half Marathon


Announcing the Inaugural Ladies Only - You Go Girl Half Marathon. 

Registration is now open for the September 26th event.

With breathtaking views of Mt. Rainier and Commencement Bay...ladies, you will love this course! The course highlights the natural beauty of Tacoma's location on the shores of Puget Sound. Beginning in historic Downtown Tacoma, the scenic rolling course takes the ladies through Wright Park and along the shores of Commencement Bay, finishing at Dock Street Landing. This USATF certified course has been designed with you ladies in mind. One loop and two out-and-backs will provide plenty of opportunity to cheer on and support each other in that You Go Girl! kind of spirit!


Need some extra support in your goal to finish the You Go Girl! Half Marathon? Are you looking to run a personal best? Join a Half Fanatics Pacer where you will be guided by experienced half marathoners who can help you reach your performance goals. Half Fanatics Pacers are there to help you from start to finish.   
  Half Fanatic Pacers will be established for the following half marathon finish times: 1:30, 1:40, 1:50, 2:00, 2:10, 2:20, 2:30, and 2:40.
  
  There is no cost to participate. Half Fanatic Pacers will line up along the start close to the pace per mile signs. Pacer will be holding signs marked with their finish time and will be wearing their royal blue Half Fanatic t-shirts to help identify themselves. Each Pacer will take water from every aid station to ensure that runners remain well hydrated throughout the race. Runners are welcome to use the Half Fanatics Pacers through whichever portion of the race they think will help them most. You can run ahead or drop back at any time.

A portion of the net proceeds from the 2010 You Go Girl! Half Marathon and 10K will benefit the YWCA of Pierce County.
